Android: Leader Of Ad Shares

When most people think of the current smart phone and tablet market, they would probably consider Apple as the leader in the market. However, those people fail to recognize the major differences in the two competitors. While iOS is only available on Apple’s iPhone and iPad, the Android OS is open to all compatible devices from the Samsung Galaxy Tab to the HTC Evo. The Android OS is used widely compared to the vertical usage of iOS. This means that devices running on the Android OS are more used by consumers.

The Android Development Company is doing a great task at evolving their product and adapting it to the current market needs. There are more Android mobile applications out there than any other applications provided by the competition. Their software allows consumers and Android developers to have the freedom to create their own applications and modify current applications with free will. The consumer has all the control, and that is what makes Android more appealing to consumers looking to add their own flavor to their device.

Do not misunderstand this, however, Apple is a great product. It definitely dominates in the tablet market, but altogether it does not match the percent of shares as Android does. Though with time, tablets running on Android may catch up to the iPad. If the demand in the market increases, then Android will definitely become a viable competitor due to their low price and open source software.

As it stands right now, if you were to look at both smart phones and tablets together, then Android wins. It controls the market right now and that is just the plain and simple fact. If it continues to control the market in the upcoming Quarters or Year will depend on the demand change or entry of new products. The market tends to move back and forth, up and down between Android and iOS, at least in the past couple of years. RIM and webOS have yet to prove themselves in this new aggressive market. RIM has remained in third place for some time now, while webOS has not even shown up for the race.
